PROFESSIONAL ROUTE TO BECOMING AN INSTRUCTOR

 

Bubble Maker
It’s fun, easy and safe, and is designed for children aged 8 to 10. They need to be comfortable in the water, but they don’t have to be great swimmers as this course takes place in shallow, confined water.
The course lasts about an hour and is conducted by one of our PADI instructors. It requires no pre-training and the equipment used is designed for children ensuring a good fit.

Scuba Review
Haven't dived in a while? Feeling a bit rusty?
A Scuba Review will bring all the knowledge and skills back that you learnt on the Open Water course. Our professional dive team will spend a few hours in the pool, and poolside, reviewing all the necessary skills to get you back on track. Course price includes a Scuba Tune-up workbook.

Open Water Referral
The Open Water Referral option is for those who are going on holiday and would like to complete the theory and swimming pool sessions before they go and finish the 4 Open Water dives in the warmer waters of your holiday destination.
This course teaches you the skills and knowledge needed to dive safely. The course normally takes 2 days to complete. It consists of five modules. You will learn about diving physics, dive theory and diving equipment. Then we move to our on-site heated pool.

The final stage of the course is the Open Water dives that can be completed at any PADI dive centre around the world. (The final qualifying dives at a different PADI centre are not included in the price). The Open Water referral usually takes 2 days or six evenings to complete, but can be tailored to your needs. Course price includes Open Water crew pack, manual, log book and all equipment.

If you wish you can book one of our specialist holidays to do your four dives, we normally go to the Red Sea.

Open Water Diver (OW Diver)
This is the same as the Open Water Referral but includes the four open water dives necessary to obtain a full entry level certification that allows you to dive independently, with a buddy, anywhere in the world. Our instructors will take you through the entire course of learning how to dive so you can explore a whole new world.

First you will learn about diving physics, dive theory and diving equipment, then we move onto our on-site heated pool.
The course comprises of five training modules including knowledge development sessions and four open water dives at a site in the UK - usually Horsea, Portsmouth.
Prerequisites include: good health; reasonable fitness; and being comfortable in the water. Age restrictions are 10 years old for Junior OWDiver and 15 years old for OWDiver. The price includes PADI certification, manual and log book.

The Open Water Referral dives consist of the 4 dives necessary to complete your PADI Open Water qualification.

Advanced Open Water Diver (AOWD)
This course takes you to the next level and develops your underwater skills and give you a taste of speciality courses
Try some of divings most rewarding and useful specialty activities. Skills that make diving much more than underwater sightseeing. Plus, the AOWD course takes you one step closer to Master Scuba diver.
To boost your confidence deep and underwater navigation are compulsory. Choose three further dives from more than 14, including; boat diver; digital photography; night diver; peak performance diver; search & rescue; and wreck diver to complete your course. Includes PADI certification and manual.

Boat Diver

Lean the tips, tricks and ways to dive from boats ranging from small inflatable to giant live-aboard, and how they differ from place to place. Gain experience and training from diving on boats in your local area. Safely enter and exit the water: sometimes it’s better to hand your gear up to the crew and then climb in the boat, sometimes you just take off your fins and weights and walk up the ladder. Stow your gear in the most appropriate areas and use surface lines to initiate or conclude your dives. Locate basic boat safety equipment.

Deep Diver
Pre-requisite: PADI Adventure Diver. The PADI Deep Diver course is designed for those of you wishing to increase your depth range beyond 30m. This two day course focuses on safely planning & executing deep no-decompression dives including emergency procedures, improving your buoyancy & trim, making use of independent alternate gas sources and SMB deployment. Once qualified, your maximum depth becomes 40m and the course price includes manuals, air, course dives & certification. Note that this course can be combined with the PADI Enriched Air / Nitrox course.

Digital Underwater Photography
Underwater photography is one of the most popular diving specialties, and the rise of digital underwater photography has made it easier and more fun than ever. This is why there are actually two PADI underwater photography courses. The PADI Digital Underwater Photographer course gets you going quickly with today modern digital equipment, whether you use a point-and-shoot snap camera or a sophisticated D-SLR like the pros. The PADI Underwater Photographer course is a more traditional photography course designed for conventional film equipment.
The Fun Part:
The fun part about this course is learning to capture images to share with your friends and family. It’s a great way to relive the adventures you’ve had.

Drift Diver
The PADI Drift Diver Specialty course introduces you to the coolest magic carpet ride you’ll ever experience. This course shows you how to enjoy rivers and ocean currents by “going with the flow,” staying with your dive partner, communicating with the dive boat and knowing where you are the whole time.
The Fun Part:
Drift Diving is nearly effortless and relaxing. You simply glide along and enjoy the rush of flying underwater while the current does the work.
During your PADI Drift Diver certification course, you learn about:

Night Diver Speciality
As the sun sets; you don your dive gear, slip on your scuba mask and bite down on your dive regulator. A deep breath and you step off the boat – into the underwater night. Search and Recovery
Have you ever dropped something in the water? Are you looking for lost “treasure”? The PADI Search and Recovery Diver Specialty course will teach you effective ways to find objects underwater and bring them to the surface. Small, large or just awkward, there is a way to bring them up.
The Fun Part:
Find lost items and lift them to the surface. It’s fun to use the lift bag. Not only are these skills fun, but very practical and ultimately useful because eventually, you’ll lose something in the water. As a Search and Recovery Diver, you’ll know how to search for and recover it.

Wreck
Pre-requisite: PADI Adventure Diver. British diving is famous for it – wrecks. If you’re interested in our past maritime history, this course is for you – study law and the wreck diver, wreck diving techniques and hazards. Emergency First Response (EFR)
A prerequisite for the Rescue diver course, EFR gives you the confidence to respond to medical emergencies. Not just in the diving world, but in your every day world with your family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues.
Emergency First Response is a one day course in CPR/first aid composed of two core modules.
It encompasses CPR and first aid for adults, children and infants. Includes EFR certification and Participants Pack.
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training available at additional cost.

Rescue Diver
Expand your knowledge and experience level, learn to look beyond yourself and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Rescue diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies.

Rescue Diver certification is also an important prerequisite for the PADI Divemaster rating and PADI Master Scuba Diver certification.
You'll cover; self-rescue and diver stress; emergency management and equipment; panicked diver response; in-water rescue breathing protocols; egress (exits); and dive accident scenarios.
You will need to be an AOWD (or equivalent from another organisation). Many divers say this is the best course they've ever taken and the most challenging! Includes EFR certification and Participants Pack.

Master Scuba Diver
The highest non professional level in the PADI system of diver education. It means that you've acquired significant training and experience in a variety of dive environments.
Prerequisites are: a minimum of 50 logged dives; be a Rescue diver or Jnr Rescue diver (or equivalent from another organisation); and have a minimum of five Specialty diver certifications.

PROFESSIONAL ROUTE TO BECOMING AN INSTRUCTOR

 

Divemaster
Working closely with a PADI Instructor, you will expand your dive knowledge and your skills to the professional level. Develop leadership abilities that qualify you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers.

It is an extensive course with 8 written exams, working along side an instructor with students in pool and open water training.
Prerequisites are: PADI Rescue diver (or equivalent from another organisation); 60 logged dives; and be a minimum of 18 years old. The price for this course includes a brief case, manuals and slates.

Assistant Instructor
The first part of the Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the Assistant Instructor course, providing additional experience and teaching you the PADI System of diver education. Under the supervision of an Instructor you will; teach knowledge development; evaluate OWD surface skills; teach the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course; teach the Project AWARE Specialty course; conduct Discover Scuba experiences; and teach Emergency First Response.
Prerequisites are: Divemaster or qualifying certification from another organisation; at least 18 years old; 60 logged dives

Open Water Scuba Instructor
