About the course

PADI stands for the Professional Association of Diving Instructors and it is the largest of all the recreational diving bodies, responsible for certifying almost 60% of the world’s divers.

PADI experience sessions and certification courses are offered to students of all ages, from beginner up to professional standard and are available at Brighton College.

PADI qualifications are accepted worldwide.

What will the course give me?

  • The Freedom to dive anywhere in the world with a ‘buddy’ of similar or greater experience, independent of a dive professional.
  • Improved knowledge and understanding of the underwater environment, on the Blue Planet.
  • Increased confidence in and under water.

Course structure

The course is structured to allow student, family and friends to ‘try before they buy’ All students are invited to attend a try-dive, to see if they enjoy the experience and would like to go on to do the PADI course. The try-dive lasts one hour and takes place in the swimming pool.

The session has a small charge and there is no obligation for the students to go on to the certified course. On completion of the try-dive the students can enroll onto the PADI open water diver course.

This course runs for five to six weeks and consists of five 2 to 3 hour sessions with us or your school. The two hour school session consist of classroom based teaching covering basic dive theory and pool sessions where the students learn the skills in a relaxed and controlled environment.

They then progress to an inland site in the Brighton area to complete four open water dives to fully develop their skills and competence in a realistic environment.

At the end of the course students will receive both a certificate and card proving that they are PADI certified. You may wish to finish your course on one of our holidays with Neilson. We aim to run several courses subject to demand.

Instructors

Mr Michael Harley Master, instructor and specialist instructor, runs the entire course. It is essential for a highly qualified professional instructor to guide the students through theory and practical instruction and examination. Mr Harley is experienced in instructing at all levels, and welcomes beginners as warmly as experienced divers looking to further their qualifications and skills.
